Phren in conversation with Marie Claire

I think of Phrēn as one of my art pieces, a very personal project that stems from and expresses my phrēn. That is why my favourite thing to hear when someone visits Phrēn is this place is so you. It also addresses my personal need for beauty and connection.
This is why my conversation with Anastasia Kamvysi of Marie Claire Greece felt more like a heart to heart versus an interview. We talked about Corfu and its many layers of cultural influence, about the Mediterranean as a place of constant movement and exchange, and about the role of art and creativity in bringing people together.
We talked about what it means to create a place where you make something with your hands, hear a story, encounter an unfamiliar idea, or meet someone you might not otherwise have met. About the simple pleasure of doing something simply because it interests you, without needing a particular reason, an immediate outcome or the prying eyes on social media.
We also talked about finding a refugee to a third space where you can show up, be curious and join the conversation.
This is part of what I hope Phrēn can be.
Not simply a shop, a studio or a place to attend a workshop, but a space where different people, ideas and influences can cross paths. A place for making and conversation, for discovering something new, and for spending a little time differently.
Thank you to Marie Claire Greece and Anastasia Kamvysi for such a thoughtful conversation, and for taking the time to explore what Phrēn is becoming.
